Resumen:
The effect of impregnation sequence and the different niquel precursors in bimetalliccatalysts Pt-Ni on the activity and sulfur resistance during styrene semi-hydrogenationwas studied. Catalysts were characterized by ICP, TPR and XPS techniques. All the catalysts presented high selectivity (> 98%). Bimetallic catalysts were more activethan the monometallic one, the following activity order of the catalysts was found: Pt @NiClPt < NiNPt < PtNiCl < PtNiN. After poisoning with 100 ppm of thiophene thefollowing order of sulfur resistance was found: PtNiCl < Pt < PtNiN < NiClPt < NiNPt.Activities and sulfur resistances differences between the catalysts could beassociated to electronic effects due to the presence of different species electro-deficientPt and Ni on the surface that interacts each other and with the support with differentkind of forces. The bimetallic more atomic ratio Cl/Pt surface proved to be the catalystsmore sulfur resistance; the higher poison resistance might be caused by steric and / orelectronic effects.
