Resumen:
The watergasshift(WGS)reactionwasstudiedonPt/CeO2, Pt/ZrO2 and Pt/CexZr1−xO2 catalysts. Allthe samples werecharacterizedbyavarietyofphysicalandspectroscopictechniques.Thecatalystactivities were evaluatedat250 ◦C inarecirculatingreactorthroughCOconversionversustimetestsandalso by insitudiffusereflectioninfraredFouriertransformspectroscopy(DRIFTS).Thesampleactivityfor the WGSreactiondependedonchemicalcomposition.Pt/CexZr1−xO2 catalysts with x≥0.5 weremore active thanPt/CeO2, probablybecausetheadditionofZrtoceriaincreasedboththesurfaceareaandthe reducibility ofceria.ThelowestCOconversionrateswereobtainedonPt/ZrO2 and Zr-richPt/CexZr1−xO2 samples. BasedonDRIFTSexperiments,thisresultwasinterpretedbyconsideringthatintheWGSformate associative mechanismthestabilityofformatespeciesishigheronZr-richsupports.
