Resumen:
In this work the cutting stock problem for the corrugated board boxes industry is presented. Because of its discrete, combinatory and non-convex nature, finding an appropriate formulation that solves the problem efficiently is the main purpose of this paper. Consequently, the problem is solved by two different strategies. The first one corresponds to a mathematical MINLP model that optimizes the cutting process minimizing the paper trim-loss costs. With the same objective, in the second approach a two step procedure is presented. First, a pattern pre-generation model is formulated which is then used as input in a mathematical MILP. Both approaches are compared, pointing out advantages and drawbacks.
