Resumen:
Over the last few years there has been a significant growth in the use of multiple beam reflectors for radiometric satellite applications. Beam efficiency has proven to be an important characterizing variable in the performance of these reflector antennas. High beam efficiency is required to achieve the detection of brightness variation in a specific field of view on earth. This paper presents an analysis of beam efficiency using feeder illumination tapers on the reflector's edge as a variable. Analytical results of the central beam from a prototype reflector antenna are shown, including their comparison with computed values. A particular case of multiple beams is also examined.
