Biological tissue characterization by biospeckle technique

Biospeckle is a phenomenon generated by laser light scattering in biological tissues. It is also present in some industrial processes where the surfaces exhibit some kind of activity. In this paper, we present some applications of biospeckle techniques related to the assessment of seeds viability, damage in fruits, parasite motility, chemotaxis in bacteria and drying of paint. Advantages and limitation of this technique and other applications is also discussed.
