Resumen:
The laser ablation rate (AR) can be defined as the thickness of material removed per pulse, in a laser ablation process. This parameter is important in laser micromachining; in Pulsed Laser Deposition methods (PLD); in deep profiling studies or directly to estimate the amount of material removed during laser ablation. LAR depends on the laser pulse characteristics as fluence, wavelength, pulse duration; and of the ablated material properties. In this work we present the characterization of the average ablation rate of commercial galvanized (Zinc and Zinc-Aluminium) steel plates manufactured by different procedures as hot-dip galvanizing and electrogalvanizing. We determined the LAR dependence with the laser fluence and the depth profile of the coating and the substrate, for nanosecond laser pulses at 1064 nm.
