Resumen:
This work presents the characterization of long period gratings in optical fiber as fractional differentiators of the envelope of an optical signal. The theoretical analysis of the phase response of long period gratings demonstrates that they can operate as fractional differentiators whose differentiation order depends on the physical parameters of the gratings. A grating capable to perform this function has been designed and fabricated; measurements of the phase and amplitude response demonstrate its behavior as a differentiator of order 0.68. According to these results, this grating could be used as ultra-short pulse shaper.
