Resumen:
Studies of emission spectra of noble gas ions have been carried out in La Plata in collaboration with groups on plasma and optical spectroscopy of the University of Campinas, UNICAMP, the Universidad Federal Fluminense and the University of Lund, Sweden, for more than 25 years. The collaborative activities included the exchange of scientific material and visits by scientists and students for courses and/or joint work, and the publication of results in specialized journals. Determination of new energy levels, lifetimes, transition probabilities and weighted oscillator strengths is an important problem for several studies. Nuclear fusion, collision physics, laser physics and astrophysics need these spectroscopic parameters, corresponding to different states of ionization of the studied elements. For this reason it is necessary to use appropriate spectral sources in order to obtain this kind of information, in our particular case, to produce plasma in intermediate and highly stage of ionization. We used two different sources of plasma in our experiments; a pulsed electrical discharge tube and a theta-pinch discharge. For the pulsed electrical discharge tube their characteristics and recent results obtained in the spectral analysis of krypton noble gas are shown [1-3]. The experimental study about the performance in the theta-pinch when the number of capacitors and turns of magnetic coil and the diameter of the glass tube are changed is presented [4]. The spectra were obtained in the region from 23 to 490 nm, recorded in a 3-m normal incidence spectrograph and in a 3,4-m Ebert plane grating spectrograph for the VUV and visible regions respectively. In this presentation we also report the spectral analysis of five times ionized krypton, Kr VI. From these studies 24 new energy levels belonging to the 4s4p5p, 4s4p4f, 4p24d and 4s4d2 configurations and 78 new observed transitions and intensities were established. To support the analysis regularities belonging to the atomic structure, relativistic Hartree-Fock and Dirac-Fock calculations were used. Calculated lifetimes and oscillator strengths values for this ion were also obtained. References [1] Reyna Almandos J, Bredice F, Raineri M and Gallardo M, Phys. Scr. T134, 014018 (2009).
