Resumen:
In the last decade the interest on pedestrian dynamics has given place to relevant connections between this field and granular matter. In particular, the consideration of behavioral aspects in the responses of the individuals in pedestrian evacuations inspired the study of granular systems of mixtures of magnetic and non magnetic grains. Recently [Nicolás et.al.J.Stat.Mech. (2018) 083403], it has been shown that the evacuation of non magnetic grains from a hopper through a narrow door can be speeded up by the presence of the magnetic species. In this contribution, we systematically analyze this phenomenon by performing detailed DEM simulations. We study the effect of the magnetic moment of the dipoles and the number of magnetic particles in the mixture. Our results shed light on the general conditions needed for obtaining an efficient mechanism for speeding up the flow, and may inspire new strategies to ease the evacuation of grains or pedestrians.
