Resumen:
Morphogens are chemical substances that are instrumental for cell signalling during tissue development and regeneration. Since during these processes tissues expand, an important question would be how the expansion of the tissue would influence spatiotemporal morphogen distribution. To tackle this question, we developed a continuous approximation given by a one-dimension partial differential equation (PDE). In particular, this PDE encodes a mechanism of reaction, diffusion and advection that incorporates the tissue expansion. We here propose an analytical solution for this equation for the case in which the tissue is between a morphogen source and a sink. Our preliminary results indicate that the analytical solution coincides with numerical simulations within the explored parameter space. This solution could be of interest in the study of fast growing tissues characteristic of early phases of development and regeneration but also in other biological contexts such as cancer.
