Resumen:
We study the critical behavior of a three-state spin model (up, down and vacancy) on a square lattice. Usually, these studies are performed by using the Blume-Capel model, but in this work we use a generalization of this model, the Blume-Emery-Griffiths (BEG), which introduces an interaction between vacancies. In order to characterize the model, we study the phase diagram as a preliminary step towards the study of different phenomena such as wetting, capillary condensation, interphase properties, and others. We perform our studies by using two simulation techniques: Metropolis and Wang-Landau in the implementation proposed by Belardinelli-Pereyra which not only estimates the density of states of the system, but also reduces the simulation time and the errors.
