Resumen:
Is the ground-state of spin-ice like ice?S. A. GrigeraThis talk will address the question on the ground state of realspin-ice systems. Spin-ice are magnetic systems, Dy2Ti2O7 to name oneexample, that are charaterised by big magnetic moments sitting on apyrochlore lattice. At first instance, the interaction between thesemoments leads to magnetic frustration and the expectation of aextensively degenerate ice-like ground state. Theoretical work andrecent experimental evidence put this naive expectation into question. In this talk I will discuss experimental work and numericalsimulations on two different spin-ice systems, Dy2Ti2O7 and Ho2Ti2O7,that aim at elucidating the true ground state of spin-ice materials.
