Resumen:
Recent advances in large-scale ensemble recordings allow monitoring and recording of activity patterns from multiple neural units, making possible to investigate the activity of very large neural ensembles. To understand how large ensembles of neurons process information it is necessary to develop suitable statistical models describing the response variability of the recorded responses. We investigate the internal dynamic of the LFPs and action potential signal obtained from multisite extracellular microelectrode recordings of rat cortex (and GP) recordings using an Information Theoretical Approach. Our formalism allows us to quantify the internal dynamics of the activity patterns of large neuronal ensembles.
