Descripción:
Corresponde a un DC  con 51 Mb de información: Resumen: Following an invitation of the International SKA Steering Committee (ISSC) addressed to all countries and regions around the world in the year 2003, Argentina and Brazil submitted initial proposals demonstrating interest in hosting the Square Kilometer Array (SKA) in their territories. The SKA Site Evaluation and Selection Committee judged the initial site proposals and found them of sufficient merit to consider a joint presentation of both countries as a viable SKA site.   In the present submission Argentina and Brazil in conjunction describe the quality of the proposed bi-national sites to install the SKA. A radio-quiet high altitude valley located near the Andes Ridge in the Argentinean Province of San Juan is proposed for the compact central five kilometers of the SKA layout. The outer and remote stations stretch across the Northeastern territories of Argentina, attaining the maximum baselines with at least seven remote stations (for the Large Number Small Diameter SKA Configuration) placed in South Brazil.   In what follows we summarize the main characteristics that make this location in the world ideally suited to install the SKA.
