Resumen:
Inquilinus limosus is an emerging multi-resistant opportunisticpathogen documented mainly in Cystic Fibrosis patients. Infectionwith I. limosus is sometimes accompanied with exacerbation or respiratorydecline. However, the pathogenic potential and the impacton respiratory function are still unclear. This study examined theinteractions of Inquilinus limosus DSM16000 with lung epithelialcells and its ability to induce a proinflammatory response, adhereand invade bronquial human epithelial cells 16HBE14o-. ELISAstudies indicated the I. limosus, triggered a pro-inflammatory responseas soon as 4,5 hs post-infection, with a significant increaseof interleukin (IL)-6 and IL-8 in culture supernatant as comparedwith uninfected 16HBE14o- cells (p
