Resumen:
Ahipa and cassava starch films were developed and characterized. They were obtained by casting method, employing glycerol as plasticizer. SEM observations indicated that ahipa starch films presented a more homogenous structure than cassava ones. Glycerol addition decreased films water vapor permeability (WVP) and the lowest reduction corresponded to cassava starch films. Dynamic-mechanical curves showed two relaxations attributed to starch and glycerol rich phases. It was demonstrated that from ahipa and cassava starches it was possible to obtain biodegradable films plasticized with glycerol which resulted homogeneous, with low WVP and adequate dynamic-mechanical behavior.
