Resumen:
One bentonite clay and one tuff from Neuquén province, Argentina, were physics and chemically treated to be used like adsorbents of cadmium in solution.  The influence on adsorption capacity was analyzed.  The samples were milled to 74 μm size clay components were concentrated in the fine size fraction < 2 μm by sedimentation.  Samples were named M4, M4f, M1f, M1f respectively and after the treatment with sodium M4Na, M4fNa, M1Na and M1fNa.  The samples were characterized by Plasma Couple Inductively (ICP) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD).  The adsorptions were carry out in batch system during 24 hours, using a 2% wt/v solid/liquid ratio.  The adsorption capacity was calculated by difference between the initial concentration of the cadmium solutions and the cadmium concentration at the equilibrium, using UV-visible spectrophotometer.
