Resumen:
Present work is part of a project aimed to use functionalized Patagonian montmorillonite (MMT) to reinforce films of ambient friendly polymers like polihydroxybutirate (PHB) and polycaprolactone (PCL) to obtain nanocomposites (NC). To this end we have studied composites of PCL with different raw and organo modified MMT, either commercial or Patagonian. We have found that composites films produced by addition of commercial organo MMT (OMMT) to PCL showed better characteristics like gas barrier and strength modulus than those observed in composites obtained by addition of raw MMT [2,3]. PCL has a low melting point (60 ºC) and a glass transition at -59 ºC. Therefore, their mechanical properties are not suitable for many industrial applications. PHB has a high melting point but is fragility prevent its use for many applications. Some of us have found that in spite of PCL and PHB being immiscible loading of 5% (in mass) of organoclays to their blends change blends morphology and properties [4].  Here we present the results of the investigation on the microstructural characteristics and dielectric properties of film composites produced by addition of 3 commercial OMMT to 80/20 and 50/50 blends of PCL/PHB.   Y.
