Resumen:
Hydroxyapatite (HA) is a widely used biomaterial because of its biocompatibility. In particular, its application as facial filler requires that the HA is present as spheroid particles larger than 40 µm, in order to reduce in situ inflammation. Chemical synthesis techniques are limited to produce smaller particles. This paper proposes the reprocessing of natural HA particles, obtained from bovine bone. These particles are atomized into plasma spray equipment, which drag in a N2/H2 flow and project them in distilled water. This material is observed by electron microscopy, revealing the formation of spherical particles with smooth surfaces, with a size distribution of 20-70 um. X-ray diffraction analyzes reveal the HA partial decomposition of in β-tricalcium phosphate, phase that increases the biological reactivity, requirement searched.in facial fillers.
