Resumen:
We havestudiedthesinteringkineticof3and8mol%ofyttriastabilizedzirconiaunderisothermalconditions.Sinteringwas performed inthetemperaturerangebetween1200and1450 1C. Thesinteringkineticprocesswasfollowedbymeasuringdensityasa function ofsinteringtime.Amodelwasappliedtothefirststageofdensification.Sinteringobeystothegrainboundarydiffusion mechanism forbothmaterials.Itwaspossibletocalculatetheactivationenergyaswellasthediffusioncoefficients.887and 731 kJmol1 were theactivationenergiesfortheinitialstageofsinteringfor3YTZand8YSZrespectively. Finally thediffusionactivationenergywasestimatedforbothmaterials.Thediffusioncoefficientswerealsoestimatedat1400 1C in 4.051014 and 6.001011 cm2 s1 for tetragonalandcubiczirconiarespectively.Theobtainedresultssupporttheobservationsofa faster densificationfor8YSZ. 1C.
