Resumen:
The aim of this paper was to formulate coatings based on alkaline silicates of high silica/alkali ratio, pigmented with lamellar zinc dust as corrosion inhibitor and with hydrated potassium and aluminum silicate (mica); this extender act as spacer between lamellar zinc particles to control their high galvanic activity. These coatings, with anticorrosive and non-flammable properties, are suitable for to use on metallic substrates as primers in multicoat systems. Key words: anticorrosive, non-flammable coating, inorganic silicates, lamellar zinc, mica.
