Resumen:
DNA methylation plays a critical role in the transcription regulation. Its increase, mainly in promoter genes regions, generates areduction or transcription blockage in patients with different typesof cancer. It has been found that some tumor suppressor genes arehypermethylated (inactive). This could be a factor leading to theprogress or malignancy of this disease. In this work we propose tostudy the methylation profile of 4 tumor suppressor genes (CDKN2B(p15INK4b), CDKN2A (p16iNK4a), RARβ2 and SOCS1) in 30 patientswith acute myeloid leukemia and chronic myeloid leukemia(16 AML and 14 CML) and in 30 controls samples by the methylation-specificPCR technique, MSP, with previous treatment of DNAwith sodium bisulfite, for the conversion of unmethylated Cytosinesinto Uracil bases. We analyzed 25/30 patient samples and 26/30controls. Significant correlations in patients methylation status (p
