Resumen:
The objective of this study is to evaluate the δ13C and δ15N variability of extinct megafauna and large fauna that inhabited in southern Patagonia during Pleistocene-Holocene transition. The δ13C and δ15N values in bone collagen samples from Hippidion saldiasi, Mylodon sp., Lama gracilis and Lama guanicoe from AEP-1 site of Piedra Museo locality, Santa Cruz, Argentina between ca. 12.8 and 9.2 ka BP are presented. These values are compared with δ13C and δ15N of Lama guanicoe from the Early and Mid Holocene from AEP-1 and Cueva Maripe to assess thecontinuity and discontinuity of isotopic signals of this species from the Pleistocene-Holocene transition and throughout the Holocene and discussed the implications of these in the early human colonization of southern Patagonia.
