Resumen:
This work presents the first results of carbon and oxygen isotopic analyses of thelacustrine carbonates from the lower section of the Cañadón Asfalto Formation at Quebrada Las Chacritas, Cerro Cóndor, central Chubut province. The carbonate facies correspond to a littoral lacustrine environment with recurrent episodes of fluvial water influx. d13C and d18O values of these carbonates, typical of continental waters, maintain a positive correlation (r=0,64) in agreement with dominantly closed hydrological conditions. The isotope signals allow the interpretation of paleohydrological and paleoclimatic variations in agreement with the previous sedimentological study.
