Resumen:
The geology of the province of Buenos Aires is defined by the existence of positive structuralelements such as Martín García island and the systems of Tandilia and Ventania, andintermediate basins, from north to south del Salado, Claromecó and del Colorado Basins. The Salado and Colorado basins present sedimentary thickness of the order of more than6000 meters, housing deep aquifer formations of lower and middle Tertiary age, whosewaters have different temperatures, linked to the geothermal gradient, depending on thedepth of the aquifers. In the basin, where also a heat anomaly of the Colorado is believed, there are important antecedents on these waters, but not in those of the Salado andClaromecó. In this work a geochemical-isotopic characterization of the thermal waters in theprovince of Buenos Aires is carried out, and progress is made in dating them. Five wells were sampled in the Colorado basin and three in the Salado basin, as well as one existing inthe Claromecó basin, where chemical determinations of stable isotopes and 4He were madeand dating with 14C. The dates obtained show a similarity of radiocarbon ages, although inthe Salado basin there were no waters less than 20 thousand years old and a recharge zonecould not be identified. The concentrations of 4He indicate that in most cases it is very oldwater with a high radiogenic component.
