Resumen:
Field and sampling tasks were developed to understand the water dynamics, chemistry and isotopic features in volcanic rocks of Somún Curá. Circulation through fractures was recognized also between lava flows planes. This plateau has a radial and concentric vertical design of fractures which allows water flow from the upper levels to lower levels. The surfaces between lava flows are responsible for the horizontal to sub horizontal water flow. The water springs in the front of the plateau show in the northern area (Río Negro) constant temperatures up to 45°C, meanwhile on the south (Chubut) the highest temperatures reach 23°C. Mostly, the analyzed waters of the north region show low to medium mineralization, in general being calcium bicarbonate type and calcium sulfate-chlorinate type. Waters of the south zone are more mineralize and in most cases, they are classified as calcium chlorinate-sulfate type and subordinate calcium bicarbonate type. Isotopically four main groups of water could be identified, one from the North, one from the South and two with influence of local precipitations. The isotopic results are consistent with recharge in the upper zones as rain and snowfalls with subsequent melting and signals of evaporation and sublimation.
