Resumen:
New lithostratigraphic, paleontologic, biostratigraphic, geochronologic and environmental data of the Late Jurassic Puesto Almada Member of the Cañadón Asfalto Formation, Cerro Cóndor Depocenter, Chubut Province, Extra-andean Patagonia, Argentina are presented. The objectives of this paper are to communicate this new locality of paleontological and sedimentologic interest and to define the paleoenvironments during the silting of the Cerro Cóndor Depocenter and characterize the border of the paleolake. The studied section is located 41 km north of Cerro Cóndor Village, along the Provincial Road Nr. 12, within the Estancia “La Sin Rumbo”. The outcropping section is composed by yellowish tuffs, tuffites and subordinated argillites bearing conchostracans, ostracods, bivalve and gastropod mollusks, and the first records of insect (trichopteran) cases assigned to the ichnogenera: Conchindusia Vialov and Sukatsheva, Ostracindusia Vialov and Terrindusia Vialov. The presence of systems of mud cracks in several levels of the section indicates arid environmental conditions during the deposition of the Puesto Almada Member. This paper was financed with funds of the PIP 5760 (CONICET)
