Resumen:
This work presents the quantification of CO2 fluxes from a Municipal Waste Final Disposition Site in Gualeguaych¨², Argentina, applying the accumulation chamber methods, which were calibrated previously in laboratory. CO2 fluxes (in gm-2 day-1) ranged from 31 to 331. Three different populations were distinguished: background soil gases averaging 46 g m-2 day-1, intermediate anomalous values averaging 110 g m-2 day-1, and high anomalous values averaging 270 g m-2 day-1. Soil gas samples to 20cm depth were also taken. Concentrations of CO2 <10%V, CH4 <1%V, N2 ~71%V and O2 ~21%V, the age and depth of waste emplacement, the non compacted cover and the meteorological conditions, suggested that the study site could be mostly at the final stage of biodegradation. Following the downstream direction, TDIC increased when the groundwater crossed through the site.  The ¦Ä13C of soil CO2 (-34¡ë to -18¡ë) and the ¦Ä13C of TDIC (-15¡ë to 4¡ë) showed that in the present process it coexist aerobic and anaerobic oxidation phases. The CO2 taken by the groundwater was estimated coupling hydrochemical, isotopic and hydrogeological data being ca. 4g C m-2 day-1.
