Resumen:
There are numerous research works on vegetable fiber cement composites used on thin- walled construction components [1, 2, 3, and 4]. However, the durability problem of vegetable fibers cement composites is known. This composite durability is associated with the fiber strength and vegetal fiber cement reaction, due to a combination of weakening of the fibers by alkali attack, the migration of soluble extractives which react with the cement and volume variation in these fibers due to their high water absorption. [5] This work presents several approaches about the influence of water soluble extractives of peanut husks on the cement reaction, in order to value their effects. The scope is to study the use conditions of peanut husks as aggregates in cement composites. The results of the present study show that the presence of peanut husk water soluble extractives in cement composites has influence on setting time delaying of the cement and decreasing of their mechanic resistance properties.
