Resumen:
This paper concerns the design of optimal energy systems to dose power demand in autonomous underwater vehicles are aimed. A new method is developed for achieving maximal autonomy. This includes the identification of the maximal "point of no return" along an arbitrarily given geometric path in order to allow the vehicle to turn back safely to the launching point. A case study involving a round trip was worked out in order to illustrate the features of the proposed algorithm.
