Resumen:
In this work we address the problem of removing sun-light caustic waves in underwater imagery obtained bya monocular camera in motion in shallow water. Aheuristics for filter design is developed, from whichessential properties of the wavy water surface are ex-ploited. The method employs optical flow techniquesand curvature predictions of pixel traces during the mo-tion. The result is a practically clean image which ismuch more coherent with the optical flow correspond-ing to the scene motion. Design parameters are pre-sented and guidelines to appropriately tune them aregiven. The performance of the algorithm is demon-strated in many case-studies involving synthetic videosequences as well as film material of real subaquaticscenarios.
