Resumen:
This paper deals with the control of oscillations in a physical pendulum induced by perturbations exerted in its pivot. An actuator consisting in a sliding mass along the bar is conceived in         the design of a control system. A bifurcation study  is carried out in the frequency domain and in two significative codimensions of the system parameters. From knowledge extracted from basins, a switching controller algorithm based on the synchronism of system orbit with the sliding mass is designed and partially implemented. A case study with simulations  shows clearly superior features of our approach in comparison with other previous control strategies.
