Resumen:
In the present work we studied eggs found in the sediments of two different sampling areas within the inner estuary zone: Cuatreros Port and Ing.White Port. The main objective was to identify the zooplankton species to which the diapause eggs belong and analyze their seasonal distribution. Though research in this field has been carried out for various decades now in other regions of the world, to our knowledge this is the first such study in Argentina, awarding it particular relevance. Of a preliminary nature, the findings are the start of a programme focusing on the spatial and seasonal distribution of this type of survival mechanism in the Bahía Blanca estuary.
