Resumen:
Transection of spinal cord is commonly used to study the FK506 effects. This invasive intervention causes distress and has low reproducibility. We studied FK506 effects on Drosophila wing axotomy paradigm. FK506 treatment reduced the nerve damage and increased neuronal soma number in injured wings. fkbp59 overexpression enhanced the FK506 neuroprotection. The wing axotomy paradigm is suitable to elucidate the neuroprotective mechanisms of FK506.
