Resumen:
Objectives: Previously, we observed that male alcohol consumptiondelayed embryo differentiation by deregulating peri-implantation eventsand altering embryo trophoblast and inner cell mass morphology in vitro. Therefore we aim to evaluate the effects of paternal alcohol consumptionon the offspring in mice. Methods: CF-1 male mice were exposed (treated group) or not (controlgroup) to 15% (v/v) ethanol in drinking water ad libitum for 15 days. Controland treated males were mated with non-treated CF-1 females (1:1), andpregnant females (vaginal plug: day1) were determined. Pregnancyoutcome was evaluated and litter mortality, weight and size registered.Blood from adult offspring was analyzed in a Coulter counter. Then, theywere sacrificed and dissected. Offsprings spleen was weighed andanalyzed histologically. Spleen cell populations were determined by flowcytometry. Results: After 21 days of pregnancy, born mice from both groups wereregistered and, during the first week after birth, an increased number ofdeaths from treated group (p
