Alzheimer?s disease (AD) is the principal cause of dementia in the elderly. A recognized hallmark of AD is the aggregation of Amyloid-β peptides (Aβ) into senile plaques, frequently surrounded by hypertrophied glial cells. We studied microglial alterations in the hippocampus of PDAPP mice, a well-established transgenic model of AD.
