Resumen:
HER2+ breast cancer (BC) cell lines exhibited differential N-glycosylation patterns that can potentially be associated with TZ resistance. TZ-resistant HER2+ BC cell line JIMT-1 showed a glycophenotype enriched in structures critical for Gal-1 binding whereas TZ-sensitive BC cell lines BT-474 and SK-BR-3 have a restrictive glycophenotype for Gal-1 binding characterized by a high α2,6 sialylation. JIMT-1 cell line also expresses higher levels of Gal-1 (protein and mRNA ) than its TZ-sensitive counterparts. Knocking down Gal-1 sensitized JIMT-1 cell line to TZ treatment, however the mechanism involved in Gal-1 mediated TZ resistance remains to be elucidated.
