Abstract: It is estimated that approximately 70% of breast tumors express hormone receptors for estrogen (ER) and progesterone (PR). Although ER antagonist tamoxifen has been successful for ER+ breast cancer treatment, a significant amount of these tumors eventually develop resistance. In order to study this phenomenon, we generated a tamoxifen-resistant cell line derived from the human breast cancer cell line T47D (T47D-TR), by long-term cell exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of tamoxifen.
