Resumen:
Melatonin (mel) regulates testicular function acting indirectlythrough the hypothalamus/pituitary but also directly at theopsies of patients suffering from hypospermatogenesis (H) or Sertolicell only (SCO) syndrome. We also found that mel testicular concentrationsnegatively correlate with the number of local macrophages(MAC) and the gonadal expression of TNF and IL1.This study attempted to evaluate the impact of oral mel supplementationin infertile patients. Men presenting idiopathic infertilityand non-obstructive azoospermia without an infection process wereassessed and diagnosed by open testicular biopsy. Biopsies were                            had been treated for sleeping disorders with a daily oral dose of 5mg of mel.In biopsies with H and SCO, testicular mel concentrations were          noreactive MACs and toluidine blue positive mast cells (MCs) were    did not affect the amount of gonadal MCs. However, the numberfertile patients and similar to those determined in normal biopsiesand IL1 mRNA expression closer to the normal range.                        to a low-grade testicular
