Resumen:
Current medical therapies for endometriosis (EDT) are often unacceptabledue to their long term side effects. Natural compoundsare being investigated because of their potential beneficial impactson symptoms of cancer and EDT. Wogonin (WG) is a flavonoid isolatedfrom the Scutellaria baicalensis root. Carnosic Acid (CA) andRosmarinic Acid (RA) are antioxidants found in Rosmarinus officinallisleaves. We previously demonstrated that these compoundsinhibit endometrial stromal cell proliferation. Our aim was to evaluatethe effect of WG, CA and RA on cell cycle progression in ahuman endometrial stromal cell line (T-HESC) and a human mastcell line (HMC1.1), with the latter chosen because of the associationof mast cells with pain in inflammatory conditions such asEDT. T-HESC cells and HMC1.1 cells were incubated with differentdoses of WG, CA, RA or the appropriate vehicle control for 48hsor 24hs respectively. Cell cycle distribution was assessed by flowcytometry in T-HESC. WG 40μM and CA 2.5μg/ml decreased thepercentage of cells in G0/G1 and increased the percentage of cellsin G2/M phase (p
