Resumen:
Gal1, an endogenous β-galactoside-binding protein, plays a critical role in immune cell homeostasis. Administration of recombinant Gal1 suppresses clinical signs of autoimmunity and chronic inflammation. However, the relevance of endogenous Gal1 in the development of spontaneous autoimmunity has not yet been reported. We have previously demonstrated that aged Gal1 deficient mice (Lgals1-/-) (~20 month) have increased eight and show augmented signs of inflammation in salivary glands compared to WT mice (P
