BackgroundPaternal exposure to diabetes can lead to thetransmission of metabolic disorders in the offspring. Our aim was to assesssex-dependent lipid alterations in the placenta of fetuses from diabetic males.MethodsControl and type 2 diabetic male rats (diabetesobtained by intrauterine programming in the offspring of streptozotocin-induceddiabetic rats, glycemia: 140-190 mg/dL) were mated with control female rats. Onday 21 of gestation, the placenta of male and female fetuses was obtained forthe evaluation of lipid levels (by TLC) and mRNA of genes involved in lipidmetabolism (by RT-qPCR).ResultsFetal weight was increased in both males and femalesof diabetic group (15%, p
