Resumen:
In the context of the highly developed countries, future technologies analysis methods (FTA) are frequently used, since the last decades, to strengthen competitive strategies, evaluate social responses to technological development paths, and foreseeing critical situations in sensitive issues, such as energy, the environment, natural resources, demographic trends, or implications of the most advanced technologies in areas like ICT technologies development, or basic research on molecular biology. FTA methods have been increasingly considered as essential inputs for decision-making, both at the level of national or regional policies and business or other actors at different levels of national organization. The relevance of FTA methods is related to decision-making in the fields of R&D, risk evaluation, environmental studies, S&T policies and strategies design, support to innovation, and evaluation of the social impact of innovations.
