Drought Network
Resumen:
The objective of this study is to describe the climate, soil, biological, and ecological characteristics of the experimental Drought Network to find the variability space covered by this global initiative. When analyzing this aspect using the most traditional and broad-used variables, such as mean temperature and mean annual precipitation, we might conclude that within a single region, such as North America, we will find represented almost all possible climate conditions present in the world. With a deeper analysis we should be able to find particular environmental (e.g. continental vs. insularity) and biological (phylogenetic /origin provenance) conditions represented in some regions that are absent in others. Many of these factors are hypothesized to be related with drought sensitivity.
