Resumen:
Sunflower is successfully grown over a widely scattered geographical area and is considered a crop adapted to a wide range of environmental conditions. The ‘seed’ or grain is actually an achene (botanically a fruit) but we will here use the term, seed. The embryo and perisperm of the seed together are often referred to as a kernel, although this term is sometimes applied to the embryo alone. Further information on the seed, origins and economic importance, uses etc are found in Sunflower – the seed.
