Resumen:
This is the first record of a Humiriaceae fossil wood from the Miocene Solimoes Formation, Acre, Amazon, Brasil. The specimen was collected at the Envira River and is deposited at the Paleobotanical collection of University of Acre, campus CZS Brazil. The anatomical features of the secondary xylem shows: growth rings absent or indistinct, diffuse porous, vessels exclusively solitary, scalariform perforation plates, intervessel and ray-vessels pits alternate, disjunctive parenchyma present, apotracheal axial parenchyma scarce, fibers with distinctly bordered pits, rays 1-3 seriate, rays with multiseriate portions as wide as uniseriate portions, heterocellular, body rays cells procumbent with mostly 2-4 rows of upright/square marginal cells. From the described characters, the specimen is related to the Humiriaceae. The present geographical distribution of the Family is essentially the Neotropical zone, with 8 genera and 49 species occurring from Costa Rica to southern Brazil. This work shows a new record for the paleoflora of the Solimoes Formation.
