Resumen:
Recent taxonomic revisions of the freshwater crabs of southern South America and new sampling programs helped find three species of the Trichodactylidae family in aquatic environments more southern. These crabs were Dilocarcinus septemdentatus and Sylviocarcinus pictus , that it are recorded from the Amazon basin, and S. australis from the north of Argentina. The three crabs are now known at the floodplain of the middle Paraná River (31°39'S, 60°45'W). The extension of their distribution is approximately between 500 km and 2000 km toward the south, where these species of Trichodactylidae were previously registered in South America. The number of freshwater crab species in the alluvial valley of the Paraná River has increased by 30% with these new records.
