Mineralogical composition of Quaternary glacial deposits from northeastern Tierra del Fuego, Argentina. The Quaternary glacial deposits show a widespread distribution in Tierra del Fuego, Southern Patagonia, Argentina. They present approximately similar lithological and mineralogical features and contain important heavy mineral assemblages. The general characteristics of these mineral associations from the NE region of Tierra del Fuego are congruent with those heavy mineral detrital deposits located along the Atlantic margin. This fact confirms that the glacial deposits constituted the provenance areas of the heavy mineral marine placer deposits.
