Resumen:
The diversity of raw materials that can be represented in an archaeologicalsite shows the capacity of societies to exploit and modify the resources offeredby natural and cultural environments. However, sometimes the raw materials used in the past have not been preservedin the archaeological record. Their presence must be inferred from otherdata, such as through ethnographic information, in art, or represented inthe features of a microwear polish. The difficulty in interpreting the functionof certain materials creates a series of questions that, in some cases, we cananswer through experimentation. This way we can recognize and reconstructsome steps within the technological production processes. The goal of thiswork is to present the contributions of the experimental programs carriedout within the project ?Proyecto Arqueológico Corazón de la Isla?, in order to understand the specific problems of the archaeological record of the central area of Tierra del Fuego, and to discuss their theoretical and methodological implications.
