Systematic observation of the urban geology as an educational resource for the Geology undergraduate program. A teaching activity for geosciences, with an emphasis on geology, in a new University (UNTDF, after its initials in Spanish) is conceived as a viable and low-cost endeavor to produce relevant geological information of public use. A student-teacher team work, focused on professionally supervised geologic mapping of the urban area as an approach to the average selection of stages used in geosciences research, enables the creation of an organized and georreferenced record of geologically relevant elements within the Ushuaia city district. Sustained geological field survey and data management at the laboratory will provide the Geology undergraduate students with the practical skill inherent to their future profession, at the same time as the city administrators will expand the data base with new information concerning geo-facts in a dynamic urban context of steady and rather spontaneous growth during the last decades.
